Football Tournament was held at WRBC-2019

Magnus Carlsen celebrated victory in rapid on the pitch.

In the evening of December 28, a football tournament was organized in Luzhniki. Having secured his third world rapid champion's title, Magnus Carlsen decided to take part in the competition. He was accompanied by FIDE President Arkady Dvorkovich, grandmasters Ian Nepomniachtchi, Evgeny Tomashevsky, Alexander Motylev, Pavel Tregubov, Kirill Alekseenko, Salem Saleh and many others. From time to time, retired footballers Dmitri Bulykin and Andrei Karyaka joined the game.

The competition was opened with the women's match, in which the Moscow Chess Team defeated Little Ducks in the series of penalty.

The main tournament was a knock-out event featuring four teams: FIDE, World, Russia 1, and Russia 2.

Russia 2 - FIDE: 3-3 (4-3)
Russia 2 - World: 1-1 (2-0)

Match for the 3rd place:
FIDE - World: 5-1.
The FIDE team was headed by Arkady Dvorkovich, while Magnus Carlsen was the leader of the World team.

Final:
Russia 1 – Russia 2: 0-0 (2-0)
The winning team Russia 1 was comprised of Alexander Motylev, Evgeny Tomashevsky, Ilia Iljushenok, Daniil Yuffa, Kirill Alekseenko, and Pavel Tregubov.
