Final Youth Blitz Held in Luzhniki as Part of Additional Programme

Open rapid event continues.

On December 29, the final blitz tournament among children born in 2004 and later was held in Luzhniki as part of the additional programme of the King Salman World Rapid and Blitz Championships. The 11-round Swiss tournament attracted 89 young chess players.

All prize-winners were awarded with cups, medals, diplomas, and presents from the Chess Federation of Russia and the Russian Chess School. All participants were given certificates and gifts. The winners will be awarded during the closing ceremony on December 30.


The open rapid tournament started on December 29. 94 players are competing for medals in the 11-round Swiss event. After 5 rounds, the leader is IM Gleb Apryshko, who won all his games of the first day. FMs Egor Gubsky and Artem Galaktionov are half a point behind.
