In 2019 the capital of Russia won one of the most prestigious World Travel Awards - "Travel Oscar" in the category "Best Travel Destination. City". London, New York, Lisbon, Paris, St. Petersburg, Sydney, Rio de Janeiro and other cities of the world competed with Moscow.

This year about 20 million tourists visited the capital of Russia, the largest city in Europe. They were attracted by numerous historical and cultural monuments, theaters, museums and exhibitions. Moreover, Moscow is one of the greenest cities of our continent - forests, parks, gardens and squares occupy more than half of its territory. It is very pleasant for walking, for example: Gorky Central Recreational and Leisure Park, which is continued by Neskuchny Garden and the Muzeon park. To get to the many kilometers long promenade along the Moscow River from Luzhniki stadium you will need just to cross the bridge.
Moscow was founded in 1147. On its streets (primarily in the historical center) many ancient temples and mansions peacefully coexist with pompous buildings of Soviet architecture and ultramodern erections. Moscow is also famous for its excellent restaurants, cozy cafes , trendy clubs and various shopping centers.

Tourists are attracted above all by the Moscow Kremlin and the historic center with large pedestrian zones. The Kremlin ensemble is included in the UNESCO World Heritage List – the present appearance of the walls and towers has been preserved since the 17th century. The Kremlin houses the residence of the President of Russia, also there are numerous temples and museums open to visitors. Right near the you can find the country's most famous square – the Red Square with the Pokrovsky Cathedral ,or St. Basil the Blessed, the State Department Store (GUM), the Historical Museum; the well-known Spasskaya Tower with chimes.
The Bolshoi Theater and the Pushkin Museum of Fine Arts, the Tretyakov Gallery and the Ostankino TV Tower, one of the tallest buildings on earth, are famous all over the world. Novodevichy Convent and Kolomenskoye Estate are also classified as UNESCO World Heritage Sites. Tourists are also attracted by the luxurious metro stations, the Exhibition of Achievements of National Economy (VDNH) with its famous Cosmonautics Museum, and Moscow City skyscrapers. The World Cup guests will certainly be interested in the Chess Museum in the Central House of Chess Players named after Botvinnik (Gogolevsky Boulevard, 14).

Closer to the New Year and Christmas, Moscow changes: a lot of gaily decorated Christmas trees, light constructions and colorful garlands festoon the streets and squares, fairs and the "Journey to Christmas" festival begin.

Moscow public transport has a single ticket, which can be purchased at any metro station. The most reasonable solution is to use a rechargeable Troika smart card, which can also be toped up with smartphones with NFC.
